When a template IS right for you
Templates exist because they solve a real problem: they allow you to establish an online presence today, without waiting weeks or spending thousands of dollars. It makes sense to use them when:

Includes a custom design and several sections tailored to your business — services, gallery, testimonials, blog — plus stronger on-page SEO and integrations with tools like WhatsApp, Google Maps, or booking forms.
Online store (e-commerce) — $5,000 to $15,000+
Shopping cart, secure payments, and product management. Price depends on catalog size, payment processors, shipping logic, and whether you need custom features beyond a standard store template.
Business or custom website — $10,000+
Advanced features: client portals, custom booking or inventory systems, integrations with your existing software, or a fully custom-built platform instead of a template. This is where most of my Python and custom software work for New Jersey businesses lives.
Budget or DIY option — $100 to $300 per year
Platforms like Wix or Shopify can work for very early-stage businesses on a tight budget. The trade-off is less control over SEO, performance, and design as your business grows.
What actually drives the final price?
Beyond the type of site, the biggest factors are: number of pages, whether the design is custom or template-based, e-commerce complexity, integrations (payments, booking, CRM), content creation, and ongoing maintenance or hosting needs.
